Rattling sound, loss of power/acceleration?
My 2002 Ford Explorer started losing acceleration/power suddenly while going down the road. It struggled to climb hills, and there was a loss in about 90% of its power even with the gas pedal pressed to the floor. I turned off my vehicle, waited a couple of hours, and it ran fine. The next day,… Continue reading

Need help with fuel line repair!!!
Hi All, we have a 2001 F150 Supercrew (5.4, automatic, 2wd) that had the fuel pump die at night, in a remote town, while on vacation. Was actually able to obtain & change out the fuel pump but had to cut the fuel lines to the tank & to the fuel filter to do the job. Was able to jury-rig the fuel… Continue reading

Avoiding The Ethanol Blues
By Eric Peters, Automotive Columnist Ethanol-laced “gas” (10 percent ethanol today, 15 percent soon) isn’t all bad. Just mostly bad. It reduces fuel economy noticeably (because there’s less energy in a gallon of 90 percent gas plus 10 percent ethanol than there is in a gallon of 100 percent gas). It makes food — especially [...]

Ethanol Anecdote
By Eric Peters, Automotive Columnist If you own an older car, be advised. The high ethanol-content “gas” in use today can cause problems when fed to engines not made to use it. Not so much burn it — ethanol fuel has some advantages, including octane enhancement. The problems arise when alcohol-laced fuel comes into contact [...]

Routine Maintenance Not Routinely Done
By Eric Peters, Automotive Columnist Most people know it’s important to get the oil/filter in their vehicle changed at least every once-in-awhile — if they care at all about the longevity (and efficiency) of their vehicle’s engine. But there’s more to a vehicle than its engine — and there are other filters (and other fluids) [...]
